BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are essential to HELP in order to carry out our HIV prevention programs. All volunteers must complete an initial orientation program and agree to abide by confidentiality regulations. Current volunteer opportunities are available in the following programs.

Condom Distribution
We need volunteers to help stuff condom packs for our bar raids and for special events. Volunteers can come in during regular business hours or join us for our monthly condom packet making parties.

Testing
Volunteers greet clients that come in for testing and talk with them about the testing process (go over paperwork; explain how the tests are performed, etc.). Prospective volunteers must attend a two-hour general orientation, plus additional training and skill-building as needed (depending on your background).

Bar Raids
Several times a year we conduct “bar raids” – going to area gay bars on a Friday or Saturday night and distributing condom packs. Usually we meet at our offices at 9:00pm, visit all the bars for 20 minutes, and return between midnight and 2am. Space is limited.

Special Events
We count on energetic, flexible, and professional volunteers who are committed to working with us to make our events a success! Volunteers will be asked to take on various responsibilities throughout an event including greeting guests, check-in, set-up and clean up, etc.
